It is with great sadness that the family of Suzanne Kay Buckert, 81, of Carthage, Illinois,
announced her passing on Monday, May 13, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family after a
short battle with cancer. Suzanne will lovingly be remembered by her husband Carroll and
daughters, Tama and Tracy.
Suzanne was born in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Inez Hyndman of Hamilton.
She had a happy childhood growing up on the family farm with her older sister Rosalie and
younger brother, Ross. She loved spending time with her horse, Trixie, and helping her dad with
chores.
She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1960 and shortly after married Corroll W. Buckert,
her husband of 63 years. They raised their children, Randy, Tama, and Tracy on their farm near
Hamilton. She was a homemaker but joined the work force in 1989 - 2003 at Methode
Electronics.
Suzanne loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She had a great love of reading,
and many times would try to carry on a conversation while reading a book. She acquired many
horses in her lifetime. She also loved her cats. Her love for animals extended to wildlife and she
saved many animals through the years. Suzanne loved spending time at the family cabin on
Diamond Lake near Cable, WI, where she kayaked and swam in the lake every summer.
Suzanne had a big heart. She cared for people by stopping by to chat or bringing food to friends
in need. This was a constant in her life. She put everyone else first. Suzanne was a great wife,
mother, grand-mother, and friend. She gave the best bear hugs, her love had no judgement, her
spirit no equal. She loved to make people smile and laugh, even in her last weeks at the
hospital. She was a devoted lifetime member of the First Christian Church. She cherished her
church community.
Suzanne is survived by her husband, Carroll Buckert, of Carthage; her daughters, Tama (Doug)
McMillen of Hamilton and Pheonix, and Tracy (Frank) Bigott of Shafer, MN; her grandchildren,
Kristina (Derek) Hoelscher of Pheonix, Andrew of Hamilton, Jenna (Wes) Freimuth of
